Nico Casal has composed the soundtracks for several feature filmes, such as La enfermedad del domingo, María y los demás, Bestia de Cardo or El árbol magnético, and shortfilms as Stutterer (OSCAR Winner for Best Short Film 2016), Wave, The Hummingbird, Pale Blue, Lonely Planet, or Eu nao digo adeus, digo ate logo.
Born in Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, Nico started to study piano when he was 8 at Santiago’s Music conservatory. He moved to Vigo in 2004 to focus on his career as a pianist, finishing the Bachelors Degree in Piano Performance in 2009.
He started to compose music for short films in 2004. Five years later, when he finished his Piano Performance Degree he decided to focus on film music. He moved to London in September 2011 to study the Master in Music – Composing for Moving Images at City University London.
He is currently working as a full time composer working in film, TV and commercials and due to release his first solo album in early 2019 on PIAS / Point of Departure.
